Meaning of Nuwanda

It was one of my favorite movies, "The Dead Poet's Society" starring Robin Williams, one character used to call himself.. Nuwanda... i dont know his real name and i am not going to google it ;) . I never was or am really good at remembering names of the people i meet once or twice or spend some months or years with. Same holds true for hollywood actors too i guess. Many of my friends are actually good at this or make an earnest effort to do so because it helps in the movie-gossip that so often comes up when friends are chatting. Its easy remembering the names of actresses for me i dont know why, and same goes for the faces.. i rarely forget a face!!! oh anyways, i am drifting off here.. So about the name.. after googling and clicking on a random link, here iswhat i found out..

QUESTION : If u have seen Dead poets society a character in the movie emphasizes his name as Nuwanda, being reckless and brave. I know that word comes from a certain poem or something like that but I dont know the actual meaning. Tell me if u know the meaning and also the origin of the word.
ANSWER :  It is a made up name that stems from the african-american trend of making up names for children. Nu is added to Wanda to make Nuwanda. The meaning of Wanda is "a wend" which refers to Slavic peoples who inhabited eastern Germany.
